All my love to my Great Aunt who grandmothered me along with so many others. She had an amazing ability to love others. I am forever thankful for the example she has set for me. With love and prayers, Jennifer Hughes Shaw

All through childhood, I spent 2 weeks every summer with Mary & Grandma Glad. Mary was full of energy then, and took me with her to the city often for special treats or just to hang out with her at the office. I still have my program from Madison Sq.Garden's hosting of the Spanish Riding School...Mary always just knew what meant the most to us. She was never short on expressing her love. I will miss her dearly.

Our sympathy is with the Metzger family. We are sadden by the loss of a remarkable woman. Mary was a very dear friend to me, we were more than just neighbors in Westerly. We wrote each other and talked many times and when I had to move to San Diego we still had emails. Mary was one of the bravest woman I know. I admired her strength & courage in victoriously working against her illness. I am only comforted in knowing that she is not suffering any longer. God Bless the Metzger family in their loss. Sincerely, Valerie & Gabrielle Marchand

To all the Metzger family....I was saddened to hear of Mary's passing last week. But it also brought back many, many happy memories of Darien - Hazel Street & Holmes Avenue, Conn Desk and breakfast at Dutchess. Pls know that you are in our thoughts and prayers as you celebrate Mary's life.
