John Henry Adams, a resident of Darien, passed away on Tuesday, February 26, 2008 in Darien. Born in 1926 in Rye, NY, he was the son of the late Frederick Leo and Kathleen (Counihan) Adams. He was 81.

John graduated from St. Francis Prep High School, Harvard University and Boston College Law School. He worked as an investment banker. He served with the U. S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of Wee Burn County Club, Megansett Yacht Club, Harvard Club of New York City, Darien Senior Men's Association and Darien Power Squadron

He is survived by his wife Barbara von Kreuter Adams of Darien; five daughters, Sarah Adams, Kate Hurley and Alison Ferrante all of Hingham, MA; Jane Adams of Berkeley, CA and Betsy Crowley of Southborough, MA; and eight grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, Fred Adams of Homosassa, FL and one sister, Frances Wenz of Smithtown, NY. He was predeceased by his first wife, Patricia Scanlan Adams and one sister, Kathleen Brophy.

Friends may call at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien, CT on Friday, February 29, 2008 from 2:00 to 5:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St John R.C. Church, 1986 Post Road, Darien on Saturday, March 1, 2008 at 12:00 PM. Interment will take place in Holy Hood Cemetery in Brookline, MA.
