Obituary of Sally Larkin Case
Please share a memory of Sally to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with much sadness that the family of Sally Larkin Case announce her unexpected passing at home in Norwalk, CT on March 18th. Born February 2nd, 1927 in Hartford, CT, the daughter of Russell and Florence Larkin, she grew up in Greenwich and attended Greenwich Academy and Miss Porter's School in Farmington, CT. Sally married Renwick E. Case on September 24th, 1949. They started their family in the house on 5 Mile River built by the Case ancestors before moving to Darien in 1959. At this time they also built a cottage on Block Island, RI. Many happy days were spent sailing with family and friends. She was a past president and member of the Junior League and was instrumental in that organizations' efforts to save the Lockwood-Mathews Mansion from demolition. In May, she was to be awarded the Valle Weber Fay Award by the Norwalk Preservation Trust for those efforts. Sally was also a member of the Blue Notes singers and a pre-school teacher. In 1973, she started Deacon's Horse Antiques and became a noted antiques dealer and authority based in Darien. She participated in prestigious antique shows up and down the East Coast including Washington, D.C., New York and Boston. Antiques were in her blood and she was still running her business right up to the end. Always active and upbeat, Sally brightened the lives of everyone around her. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by her friends and family. Sally was pre-deceased by her husband and oldest son, Russell (Rusty). She leaves behind two sons, Renwick (Rick) and Ralph (Terry or Rufus), three daughters-in-law, and nine grandchildren all whom she loved dearly.
A memorial will be held at the Untied Church of Rowayton, 210 Rowayton Avenue, Norwalk on March 29th at 1:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lockwood-Mathews Mansion, 295 West Avenue, Norwalk, CT 06854.
